EVAC AND SOUND-DIFFUSION SYSTEMS
Our extensive know-how in the field of safety and fire prevention has led us to expand into a further sector, that of the design, construction and maintenance of Emergency Voice-Alarm Communications(EVAC) systems.
WHAT IS AN EVAC SYSTEM?
In emergency conditions, the purpose of this type of system is to provide clear information aimed at notifying and guiding all personnel present in the areas of risk so that they can take appropriate action. The system can also be “dual purpose” meaning it can also be used under normal conditions to broadcast music or announcements.
The public communication systems for emergency evacuation are able to transmit messages, whose specific content can range from a simple warning to an actual evacuation notice. They can also transmit messages with any content and in any language, an important aspect for buildings with international traffic, thus rendering them a useful and effective tool also for internal communications to a large audience. Furthermore, in order for the message to be intelligible even for people with any hearing impairment, it is possible to opt for optical signalling or inductor loops.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The EVAC system is interconnected with the fire control unit that communicates the zones and the type of signal (alarm, warning, etcetera) that the system translates into the appropriate pre-stored messages.
The components that comprise the system are:
- Control unit, being a rack cabinet that includes all components to generate messages, control the system, etcetera;
- Loudspeakers (amplifiers), with the positioning, number, power and design suited to the environment served;
- Electrical connections, to be created with fire-resistant cable.
Guaranteeing the reliability of these systems is fundamental and, depending on the established level, this can be ensured thanks to the use of spare amplifiers, redundant connections, limitation of the excluded amplifiers upon short-circuits and continuous line control.
Like all of our systems, even these dedicated to emergency evacuation can be activated manually or via a fire detection and extinguishing system. They also fully comply with the directives of the applicable standards in force.
FIELDS OF APPLICATION
EVAC systems are mandatory for some buildings of particular importance such as, by way of non-exhaustive example, offices with more than 100 people, health facilities and hospitals, school buildings, sports facilities, museums, subway stations, department stores with an area exceeding 400 square metres, tourist resorts with a capacity of more than 400 people. Generally, however, the choices behind the installation of an EVAC system and its level of reliability is the result of a careful risk analysis.
